ICC Cricket World Cup 2011: The grand opening is today!
ICC Cricket World Cup 2011: The grand opening is today!: Let the show begin. Finally, the wait is over as the opening ceremony of ‘World Cup 2011’ will be held in Bangladesh today. The country is one of the co-host of the Cricket World Cup along with India and Sri Lanka.
In the opening ceremony at the Bangabandhu Stadium, some of the well-known singers from Asia and outside are going to perform. World Cup official song composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam, Bengali singer Runa Laila and the legendary Canadian rockstar Bryan Adams will add zing to the ceremony.
The opening ceremony will depict the rich and diverse culture of the co-hosts India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and that is going to be one of the main highlights of the event. The brilliant fireworks and amazing laser show will be another attraction of the opening ceremony.
According to Mail Today, “The full teams will not be there at the opening. Only the captains and the managers will be present. That is how (Indian company) Wizcraft has designed the ceremony”. One major reason for the team’s absence could have been a big logistical problem in transporting teams from various parts of the three south Asian countries.
However, the word is that the captains of the fourteen participating countries will be given a rickshaw ride inside the stadium.
The Indian team has already left for Bangladesh today morning. The first match of the World Cup will be held on 19th Feb, 2011, between India and Bangladesh.
